It all started back in 1992 and was like you see in the movies. Bartender, who worked at Snuffer's, meets girl, who just so happens to be his best friend's, girlfriend's sister- and three years later they're married and opening a bar & grill. We didn't set out to be known for anything, let alone D Magazine's "Best Burger in Dallas", but it happened in 2002. We remember the day we found out like it was yesterday, because our business increased and people liked what we were doing. There's a saying that people who feel appreciated work harder at what they do-and we've been doing it for more than 20 years now so it must be true.
We were approached in 1997 about buying George Wesby’s Pub in Deep Ellum, which became venture number two and was known as Fat Ted’s Bar & Grill. (Yes, Bryan’s middle name is Theodore, and he was a little chunky back then.) Little did we know we would end up back in this same location more than a decade after selling Fat Ted’s and we would be opening Uncle Uber’s Sammich Shop. It’s not easy work, and we live it 24/7, but we love what we do. We believe in creating as much as we can fresh or from scratch-from shaving our meats and hand cutting fries every day to making our own sauces, ice cream and cookies.
Times change and you never know what opportunity might come along next. The lunch only, fast-casual Sammich shop we opened in September 2011 in Deep Ellum has evolved. One year into operations we extended the hours and added a full bar to the operation in order to better meet the needs of our neighborhood and customers. In 2014, we helped our partners design and open venture number six, Green Door Public House, over in the Farmer’s Market. The explosive growth and renewed interest in our area keeps our day to day focus on operations here at Uncle Uber's in order to maintain the quality food and service you expect and deserve from our Mom-n-Pop shop. We sincerely appreciate the support of our customers, because without them, we wouldn't still be here doing what we love to do.
